Well, I didn't want to have to do this, but for the sake of possible
used part buyers on this list (of which I've been a member for many
years, by the way), I feel I've got to warn you about a list member and
his behavior regarding a driver's side mirror I bought from him.

I put out a call for a mirror in great shape, no watermarks on the
glass. I received an e-mail from Peter Mcxxxxxx. He said he had just
what I wanted, that the glass and mirror was in good, clean shape and
the price of $50 was eventually agreed upon. After a couple weeks I
    received the mirror, just yesterday.

Upon removing it from the box I discovered that the glass did indeed
have small watermark spots all over it. I wasn't overjoyed by this fact.
Still, it was in better condition than my own scratched mirror, and I
decided I could live with it. That was until I picked up the unit and
discovered that the pivot mount (beneath the accordian rubber boot) was
very loose. Upon inspection it turned out that a piece of the mount's
metal was broken and missing, and that the bolt hole threads were
stripped which would've enable the tightening of the thing.

Still, I thought that perhaps I could somehow use my own mirror's old
mount and couple it perhaps with this mirror's glass and inner workings.
I was suddenly getting into a lot of work when it should've been a
simple swap. I ultimately decided to simply remove the glass from this
unit and double-side tape it to my old mirror. Well, when I attempted
that, the mirror cracked. Figures, huh? I didn't mind too much since the
glass was not in very good shape anyway.

Anyway, I put my old mirror back on my car and e-mailed Peter. Explained
the entire story and I received an e-mail back from him stating that
he'd refund my money if I sent the mirror back, because he figured it's
best to foster goodwill amongst Peugeot owners. I thought that was a
good position and replied that I'd send the mirror back.

Well, an hour or two later I get another e-mail from Peter, stating that
he's thought about the situation more and that he just cannot give me a
refund. His position is, 'you broke it, you bought it.' Hmmm...I can in
a way see his point, but then again the mirror glass was indeed etched
with watermarks, and even more significantly, the pivot mount was busted
and unfixable which would've meant this mirror would always vibrate and
wobble once installed. To me, that's a very much faulty, defective
    part--from the get-go.

At the end of the day, this mirror Peter sold me was crap. Now I guess
he figures to somehow teach me a lesson he's not going to refund my
money. I guess that's OK, I can live without that measly $50. But
considering how I've been treated in this matter, I feel I had no
alternative (after getting nowhere thru e-mail with Peter) but to air
this 'dirty laundry' on the list.

Basically, buyer beware if you're going to buy a used part from Peter
Mcxxxxxx. You just may not receive what you had been expecting, or what
he's represented as the conditon of the used part. Frankly, that's crap
treatment from a fellow list member. And that, Mr. Mcxxxxxx, is what we
don't need on this list....not someone like me bringing situations like
this to the attention of fellow members so they can avoid this BS. I
don't feel this affects my reputation in any way.....too bad you figure
it would. I trust it's yours that's not going to be helped by this.

And I reiterate, I have only brought this onto the list as a warning
after a few e-mails with Mcxxxxxx. He apparently can't see the error in
his ways of selling crap merchandise to fellow list members, so
basically, think twice before buying from him. If I can prevent someone
else from going through a similar situation I feel I've done a service
    to this list.

And I know every once in awhile something like this gets to the list. I
really didn't want it to go that way, but Peter's unbending attitude
drove me to it. His wanting me to put the mirror back into the condition
it was in (meaning to somehow put an uncracked glass into it!) before
he'd refund my money, is simply ridiculous. He was probably hoping to
sell this 'POS' to some other unsuspecting soul if he gets it back. The
shape that mirror was in made it unusable...whatever. This has become
    tiresome.

    'Nuff said....
