You know what Corey? A new part wouldn't be defective, and a reputable
junk yard doesn't sell broken parts, either. So there'd have been nobody
laughing at me. In all my years of buying parts anywhere, I've never had
such an experience. That fact speaks volumes, I think.....
I guess my crime is breaking the glass during my last ditch effort to
salvage something of value from that mirror. I broke a bit more of
something that was already very broken, i.e., broken, stripped pivot
mount. I guess that can happen on occasion when someone (like me) has a
'can do' philosphy in trying to make the most out of a difficult
situation. Obviously, it didn't work out in the end, but that's life.
The real issue here is one of misrepresenting the conditon of a used
part. If that hadn't been done, there would be no issue in this case.
I'd have been happy as punch with a nice mirror installed in about 10
minutes. And being a stickler in saying that a refund was in order if I
hadn't broken the glass is also a bit disingenuous. That mirror was
already defective--the only reason anyone would want it back (without
the broken glass) would likely be to try to resell it to somebody else
(perish the thought!).
Perhaps next time I try to buy a part from someone here, I'd better ask
everyone on the list if said party can be relied upon or not. And that's
a sad state of affairs considering our sort of 'brotherhood of Peugeot
owners' here. However, I do truly think most on this list would not do
such a thing as what happened to me.
