Poor used parts buying experience

It seems that, in the realm of buying used parts, unless one buys from a
wrecker that has a warantee (which generally costs an additional charge), it
is a matter of "buyer beware." As for the part in question being represented
as being in "good" condition, that brings up the old question as to whether
the glass is half dirty, or half clean.
A friend of mine bought a Ramirez flamenco guitar through the internet a
while back that was advertised as being in "excellent condition" and,
alledgedly, had only been played for 10 hours during its lifetime. It
arrived looking as is it had been suspended underneath my 504 (the one with
the leaky transmission) for a few years of tough driving. Maybe King Kong
played it for 10 hours.
Not that anyone asked, but had I purchased a mirror that was supposed to
be in good, great, or excellent condition and I found it to be bad shape I
would have, before trying to salvage any part of it, contacted the seller to
see about returning it or receiving a price adjustment.
I don't mind the flame wars and name calling (I don't really like it
either). I am on a flamenco discussion list that makes any flaming that I
have seen on this list seem quite benign.
Ken (who has a few "good condition" 504 doors that he might want to sell)
