    All:

I'm beginning to stockpile certain parts that I suspect will be hard
to find and more expensive in the future. The 4th and 5th gears in
my car are noisy. So I'm think of buying the new transmission that's
advertised for sale by Dunbarr on Ebay. Next year I'll probably have
the clutch replaced and install the new transmission. But I'm
wondering about the wisdom of this work when I could be faced with a
significant engine problem a few years done the road. The car has
155,000 miles on it and the engine runs great. But I suspect that
the cost of rebuilding the V-6 would be crippling. What is the cost
of a rebuild? Are used V-6 engines in reasonable condition still
available. Can one rebuild certain parts of the engine (e.g. bottom
end, top end) and leave the rest alone? How much would it cost, for
instance, to replace the crankshaft bearings?

    Thanks
