I just installed Rockford Fosage subwoofers and an alpine amp in my 91 505
SW8. I ran an 8awg cable through the firewall to the lower left of the brake
booster. In the 91 wagon, there is a bit of insulation similar to that used
to cover the heater motor in the engine compartment - i cut about 5" out of
it, and punched a 3/8" hole through the firewall where it "angles" from the
normal flat of the car to become further into the engine compartment to mount
the booster!!! basically, you really can't go wrong punching to the left,
just don't punch to the right as you'll hit the booster. If you keep going to
the left (outbound from the center of the car) you'll find a 4"x2" outlet to
the fusebox. I'm not sure if the pre-86 cars are like this, but hope it
helps.
