Now, I like that.
What's even nicer is to dig around in your own scrap yard and find the one
you want for free!
I finally got to look at the struts that I was able to salvage from an '87
STI. It appears that the lower spring platform is made of a heavier gauge
steel than the originals on my '86 which leads me to believe they are the
factory replacement struts for the rot outs that PSA replaced a few years
back. I will be a treat to get that bad strut replaced on my '86 XD3T. The
salvaged fuel tank still bears it's Peugeot part number tag and the sending
unit is shiny and new. This must be a replacement unit, bonus. The
transmission (4sp auto) was working, tho we only roared up and down 50' of
driveway. Even got a squeak out of the tires! Is this a rebuilt unit in
there? I learned how to remove the dashboard without breaking it (it had
already been damaged by some other butcher) so all in all it was the most
fun and educational and profitable thing I have done in a while (to have
torn down a complete car with a working partner)
Regards,
Dan
