« Peugeot should not forget a part of them that makes out much more than
they expected. Think about the 309, it should be a Talbot Arizona and
was sold over 1 million times. They needed so hardly the Talbot-engine
to have the emission-quote they never were able to reach with another
engine at this time! But, at least we should be thankful that Peugeot is
not interested in Talbot. I can tell you from Germany that Peugeot just
tries to promote the 504 C/C-scene - and as soon they found their new
hobby they tried to manipulate the events. They just made a great
meeting in Speyer (sponsored by Peugeot Germany) and took more than 60 ?
for the entrance. Or, look at Mercedes - of course they support clubs
but they only support them if they accept the rules from Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes makes a type of ethnic selection and ignores anybody else with
a modified car. In my opinion it is an advantage to be free from this
but it gives US the order to take it on our hands also when it goes
around the lobby... We never have to forget that Peugeot is "only" a
distributor for parts but mostly not the producer. If we are able to
reconstruct the Talbot-Simca network we are on the right way.
