Actually it was in 1912, for the L76 Grand Prix car. The L76 was
sleeved down to 7.4 L for the Indy 500, to meet the local
displacement limit.
Shame they couldn't bother to reintroduce DOHC 16V technology until
1984....some 72 years later....
Innovation is worth respecting and interesting, but applying the
innovation to production cars is the proof in the pudding ;-)
