MISC THOUGHTS ON JAP QUALITY VS PEUG & OTHERS
I rate the Japanese (Honda Civic in my experience) good on both rattles
and electrics. I rank them below Peugeot in rust prevention, suspension
    longevity. and engine durability.

On suspension I tested a few rental cars in Alabama on a particular
railroad track dip at about 50 mph. The Camry, Accord, and Maxima all
totally bottomed out their suspension. I liked the Maxima best of the
three. Did not get a chance to test my Peugeots there but I know they
would have passed with flying colors.

My Civic experienced failure of the camshaft and lifters due to a poor
design on the oil pump gear drive at 60k (not under warranty) so put new
parts in myself. Oil level had never been below full so it was strictly
a design problem due to low oil flow to that area.

Many of the original Acura Legends (86) had lots of rust when the
original paint layer became compromised. Good looking as it came from
the factory for a good JD Powers initial quality survey but not so good
some years later. My Civic died of terminal rust on the unibody.

I've never had a failure of internal engine parts on any of my Peugeot
or Ford products (up to 160k mi.) The Japanese make pretty good
products, but so do many others these days so I just don't need any more
    of their bland products.
