I will humbly defer to those who have to put up with salted roads. Your
experience in this matter far exceeds mine as we never salt the roads
here. Just sand. Even Fords look good after 10 years here.
But then again, remembering the Peugeot factory brochure, they did point
out that they do a lot for rust prevention. But, I figured "all
manufactures spout that blather". Guess for some it's more than just
talk!
Looking for a winter car for when I move to Pensylvania. I was going to
go for a Quattro, but perhaps a 405 with those Finish tires
(Hakkapalitas?) would be more than adequate.

Take my word. Here in Finland, where we put salt the roads at winter
time and our summer is nothing but a constant rain, cars do rust
quickly.
My friend works at the car painting shop as a painter. He says that
since 1987 Peugeots and Citroens have been best cars against rust.
They simply don't rust.
