No it is highly unlikely that it had been hit on both rocker panels
in previous accidents ;-). In fact I saw no evidence of accident
damage.
I have also seen photos on eBay of totally rusted out 405s in the USA
too, so yes, it DOES happen!
Bear in mind that galvanising a car does not exempt it from
corrosion. It only creates a very thin barrier of sacrificial metal
coating that - once it is gone - does nothing to protect the
underlying steel from rust.
Only 65% of the 405 shell is galvanised (S1 version).
