My complaints come after I work on the car. Taking out the back seats
and seeing how the wiring is routing and secured (actually a lack
thereof), it leaves me disappointed. Seeing the front speakers mounted
only to the kick panels is another eye openener. I won't even bring up
the edge connectors on the taillights. ;)

I'd disagree with you that they're better. I was just expsperated with
    the engineer.

My head-to-head of cars of that era:

    Suspensions - P
    Engines - T
    Style* - P
    trannys - T
    Interior comfort & egronomics - P
    Electricals - T
    Rust prevention - P
    Build quality - T

Of course, if you're comparing Peugeots to other Japanese cars, it's a
easier for P. Toyota is regarded as the best Japanese car.

    * Ha, I just started thinking about this. Would you own a Peugeot if it
looked like a Toyota? Pretty revealing! :)

Though I wouldn't go leaping off the edge quite like that :), I think
it is accurate to say that *as a whole*, our old Peugeots are better
cars than Toyotas from the same era. Think about hard abusive driving,
real world longevity of components, and serviceability of those
    components over the long haul.
