Well, the 3YC & 4YC engines in the old Toyota vans are used in sedans in
Japanese taxis. They are 400K+ mile engines. Because access so awful
they stuck the most reliable engine they had in there. It's like
Toyotas XN6. I don't know if the toastervan can even do 100.
That's kind of a non-starter. All but the lamest engines will last a
loooong time fully warmed up and operational.
Oh yeah, I was on the freeway listening to Beethoven's 6th and was
annoyed by the wind whistle at anything over 50MPH. Grrr... Things are
pretty silent in my old 85 Cress at highway speeds.
I nit-pick because I know focusing on the problem issues will give me a
better car. Anybody know where to source door seals? I'm thinking
aftermarket. I don't remember seeing them available on W-H's online
catalog.
505 still kicks butt in rainstorm!

Haha, well think about it this way--
I am very certain that if you ran a 505 station wagon and a Toyovan side
by side at 100 MPH non stop, the Toyovan would experience major
failure(s) long before the 505 was ready to give up--kickpanel mounted
speakers and all! :)
I agree that the taillight connectors and boards are a joke--really poor
design that was destined to have problems from day one... Another thing
is the sunroof contraption--what a joke. Blower motor location? HA,
great choice guys!
However these are all little things that don't affect what makes a car
"a car"--they are just an annoyance. So I stand by my belief that during
the era in question, Peugeot *overall* had a more evolved "car".
