Air Conditioning - Freon Gas

You remember that we use Freon Gas in the air conditioning set up of our
cars in the 80s.
How would you do actually get those running again within our Pugs or
Talbot, by rebuilding these units?
Refilling with Freon is not authorized here and there.
Do we have to replace the hoses and parts?
Could this be adapted?
Any idea?
