    I've never heard of that. The two cars I've purchased from Oregon both
    retained their Oregon plates.
    The one car I bought from Oregon from a dealer came with California plates.
    (off-lease car from SoCal)

    Regardless the trip permit is a 1-day, 3-day or week long temp
    registration. Usually $15-20 or so.
    Pretty common.
