Miles per gallon meter

Would any of you electronic geniuses be interested in designing the
circuitry for a miles-per-gallon meter for fuel-injected vehicles?
IN the mid-70s, Sears sold one for carbureted cars, with a fuel-flow
monitor installed in the fuel line, a mileage counter like a cruise control
speed sensor, and an ecu that massaged the signals and displayed mpg. For
fuel-injected cars you would have to measure the fuel return flow and
subtract it from the inlet fuel flow. I imagine a selectable display that
could give instantaneous mpg as well as mpg averaged over various intervals.
I would have thought something like this would be currently available
somewhere, but I have been unable to find one. With pump gas prices
projected to top $3.00/gallon soon, I suspect there will be some interest
by parties other than myself.
