This is very cool and fairly informative. At first I thought he was writing
about worm viruses, and he may be, but also there is such a thing as a
Peugeot with worm drive? I spent quite a bit of time at the pccv site
looking through images of Peugeots. Zero images of 505s! What's that all
about? Don't Puggie fans think the 505 is noteworthy? Or image worthy?

This club and site is about Peugeots in which the final drive was a worm gear assy, or a screw (driveshaft driven) turning a big gear (crown gear). Depends on the Synthetic, ester based usually good, glycol based a no-no. I used to put synthetic in my 201 as it doesn't burn and minimised the tailpipe smoke which was the norm in 1930, 1L of oil/200kms, people in the city tend to frown when you leave a cloud behind you.

I assume he wants the centre caps for 505 15" alloy wheels. Next question, does he want the smaller early model centres which are chromed octagonal same as used for the earlier metric alloys, or does he want the larger later model centres that have the holes for the wheel nuts (lugnuts).

Hello, Peugeot-L list people, and greetings from Katoomba, NSW, Australia,
By way of introducing myself, we've had Peugeots in our family since the 1950s, starting with a 403 sedan (green, named "Pistache",) & wagon (mud brown, named "Tondy".)
We currently drive two 505s, an '85 SRD turbo sedan, "Diesel Dan", and an '89 GTI Wagon, named "Pog", (because her rego # is POG 121.)
Next week Diesel Dan goes in to have a "new" second-hand engine fitted... the current one is due for an overhaul, and we found a good motor in Sydney. This leaves us with the possibility of doing up the motor that's coming out, and fitting it into the wagon. Does anybody have any advice on the subject? I've heard you need a compatable gearbox, for instance. It sure would be nice to have the extra economy, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
