90 mph is done around here (the bay area), but it's certainly not
necessary. I never drive my 505 turbo diesel faster than about 70,
including many miles on 80/880.
Then again, I tend to go faster on my motorcycle- it's safer to be
riding a little faster than surrounding traffic, and have a bit more
control over position/blind spots. 80-85 is pretty normal speed on
the bike.
When I'm not being "pushed" by traffic, I prefer to drive 60-65 mph,
it's more relaxing and economical.
