Amazing isn't? Sometimes I feel that we have the melting pot of the world’s worst drivers here in the USA. Slow in the fast lane, honking is a sin, no signals, cell phones, tailgating, etc.. Years ago I attended one of those BMW driving school/ 3series promos. I must say that the 2 hour training I received from Elka, a former German professional racer had a greater benefit than all previous "official" training combined. The actual driving portion of the course consisted of Elka yelling out "Brake", "Stop", "Accelerate" on the various parts of the track. I must say that kids today would be much better served learning from a screaming German driving instructor than their PE coach at school! Some of Elka's highlights: "In Germany we stop at stop-signs, it's not an option!""If you lose control of the vehicle look at the road, not the tree!""9 and 3, not 10 and 2" (also never cross one arm over the next when turning)"Look further down the road" (her personal suggestion to me) While I enjoy driving my 505 aggres
sively, I make every attempt to do so in a safe manner.I'm also cognizant that while the 505 is a well built car, it lacks airbags and other modern touches. That being said 80mph is rather comfortable and stable for me when I'm behind the wheel of the 505. In the 505 V6 80mph feels like 60mph, ditto for the Turbo. Actually in the few times I have driven a 505 Turbo, I’ve found the sensation of speed to be rather deceiving. In one particular case someone reminded me that the residential boulevard had a 35mph speed limit, not 75mph!
