In India, premium petrol (its not 97 octane, though) costs 1.36USD and regular diesel costs 0.84USD per litre. I don't know what that converts to in gallons, but you can calculate.
India will be getting Venezuelan oil soon, as the two countries have signed a pact where Indian oil cos will do exploration and Venezuela will give India oil. India is also working out a pipeline from Iran through Afghanistan and Pakistan. So, we expect cheaper fuel in a few years time, I suppose.
