I am by no means a mean spirited person, but the idea of a good
practical joke has crossed my mind. Switch some plug wires, then later
show how smart you are by "fixing" it on the spot. I'm bad.
Congratulations Marty. I know the feeling.

I thought; the shorting incident didn't damage anything; and (2) the
XN6 now runs!!! The no-start, no-run turned out to be due to a failed
"Hall effect" pickup in the distributor, and the vacuum advance unit
was also inoperative. A new distributor from Brian Holm solved both
problems. It seemed to run very poorly for a short time, but it
turned out the 2 and 3 plug wires were reversed; once that was
corrected, it purred like a kitten. The timing was surprisingly easy
to adjust, once I took the sound advice of Bob Bruce and sprang for a
timing light ($13 at Harbor Freight).

a matter of sealing and refilling the system.
