4HP22 Gearbox with 3HP22 TC

Firstly, thanks to the guys who responded to me. Bless y'all!!
ok now i'm having some silly issue. Just fyi, i'm a computer engineer
and not an expert about cars.
I'd got a zf4hp22 and i just managed to source a TC for it. Now a
mechanic is telling me that a 4hp22 cant fit into a Peugeot 505 coz
apparently its longer then the 3hp22. He also mentioned about the
involvement of modification of the propelor shaft incase i need to
fit in a 4hp22. Another thing he mentioned is that the bell housing
is also not similar.
My question is: arent the zf4hp22 tranny's all standard despite the
fact that they are used in BMW, Volvo, Jaguar, LandRover, Peugeot??
If the trannys are different, what sort of 4hp22 should i be looking
at to fit in to my Peugeot 505 without much modification.
Just so you all know, mine is a Peugeot 505 GTi and has the 2165cc
ZDJL engine in it and it came with a 3hp22 gearbox. The engine and
gearbox have never been changed so i assume they are stock.
