Peugeot did import 86 Turbodiesels, both sedan and wagon. The sedan was
available with 5-spd manual and auto and the wagon with the 4-spd auto
only. I purchased a brand new 86 505 S TD Wagon in April of 1987 from
the local Peugeot dealer. The Date of Mfg on mine was 05/86 so I expect
it was one of the last available turbo diesels. The Peugeot dealer had
the 87 diesel brochures from Peugeot which I still have, but told me
Peugeot never brought any 87 diesel model to the US. I have 148,000
miles on my wagon which I love for the generous space hauling capacity.
I do not use it in the winter and the body and interior are like new
except for beginnings of clear coat paint failure. Even with diesel at
$4.25 it is my lowest fuel cost per mile current vehicle. I just
averaged 31 mpg on a trip to pick up my daughter from college in Milwaukee.
