    Hello all,

It was my first trip to Carlisle, and certainly not my
last. Apart from the fact that it poured with rain
the whole way from Boston to Carslisle on Friday
afternoon AND on the return trip on Sunday, we were
blessed with a nice warm, mostly sunny day on Saturday
until the late afternoon. It did stay dry the whole
time. The theme this year was "the Brits are coming"
so my hotel was overtaken by Bugeye Sprites!

My red Mi16 was the first 405 to arrive of three that
were there, one of which was an Mi16 Sportwagon that
someone did a nice job of converting. I would say
were were outnumbered compared to the Citroens, but I
have always liked the DS, 2CV and the CX, all of which
made a very impressive showing. I've also never seen
so many Citroen SM's in one place! Others Frenchies
included a Fuego Turbo, an R-18i sportwagon, R5 Turbo
2, Dauphine, several Reliance GTAs, a 504 diesel and a
white 504 cabriolet. I would say after the Brits, the
Swedes dominated with Saabs and Volvos a plenty.
There was a 31K mile yellow 900 Turbo convertible
there that was the twin of the one I very STUPIDLY
sold two years ago. I was very jealous....

Lots of other random sights. Open Mantas, Fiat 131
Mirafiori, TVR 280i Tasmin hatchback, Jensen
Interceptor Coupe version (not the hatch..very rare!),
Audi Quattro (the '83/'84 turbo coupe GT version),
Trabant, and many others that I thought would have
rusted to pieces (clearly most have and these are the
    few survivors!)

I was very pleased with Mlle Marie-Prudence (as a
friend of mine named the Pug after she saw it for the
first tiem). Averaged about 62mph on the trip, even
in the rain, 32-33mpg (approx) both directions, and
thankfully I could drown out the engine noise with the
stereo. Mileage is approximate since my Garmin Nuvi
said the speedo (early Jaeger cluster) was about 5-6
mph too fast. My '91 with the Veglia matches the
    Garmin's speed.

It was nice to have people come up and ask me about it
or say "wow, can I take a picture of the interior?"

Leaving on Sunday, I DID see several stranded Porsche
356s and the odd Brit ragtop....in the rain too...a
    bummer.

I will post a link to pictures after my business trip
this week, as I don't have a USB cord to plug my
    camera in.

    Cheers,
    Paul Hughes
