Change the lubricant in the trans.
It probably has the recommended 10-40 engine oil
Fill it with 75-90 100% Synthetic Gear Oil
I have used this in my TD since it started whining
after towing a 405 for 1500 mi.
That was 8 yr ago and it is still quiet.
Synthetic gear oil shifts at least as well as the 10-40 engine
oil at all temperatures down to - 40F

Subject: trans whine
Is a manual transmission on a 505 supposed to whine like an old powerglide
when the Peugeot is in neutral with the clutch out? Mine does.
