Mitsubishi eclipse:
Bottom end is completely stock
26 psi boost
424 horsepower at the wheels
2.0 liter displacement
11.91 @ 121.01 mph
There's also a Dodge neon pushing out 400 HP out of a 2 liter 4 cylinder
running a V5 supercharger with 15 psi of boost (nitrous also). Still
using the stock long block with ported single-cam head, throttle body
and intake. It goes into more detail about the fuel system modifications
and so forth.
The N9T long block has to be stronger than these. Since the N9T, so I've
heard, is made of a nickel steel alloy and all the moving parts are
forged. I also understand that the main crank bearing caps have 6 bolts
in each one and stretch across the bottom of the block. Perhaps even an
XN6 would take well to turbocharging (if you could keep the head gaskets
from blowing).
Turbo magazine features older cars, there was an '85 Renault something
turbocharged featured a few months ago. Perhaps we could meet with our
505 turbo project cars and get a feature once we've reached the
potential we want. There are also some great articles and adds in the
magazine. I think I'm gonna subscribe.
