Air Inlet

Martin Karo asked about air box mods. The inlet at the box is about a 4X2
oval inlet. There's not a lot you can do to enlarge that and I recommend
against perforating the airbox as hot air will get in. The 4X2 isn't as
bad as the tapered silencer snorkel. The 4X2 oval is about 6 sq inches
cross-section but taper to a < 4 sq in inlet. There's numerous
restrictions along the way, those just mentioned, the air-flow meter
(about 6 sq in) is the next smallest. Ideally everything fore of the turbo
should be as big as the AFM. A 3 inch OD flex hose would give 7 sq in and
be better than the factory design. I suggest cutting the inlet 5-6 in from
the airbox and routing that to a spot that gets frontal air. Reference URL
